Top 6 Lifestyle Trends of 2020

Wait, life? Does that still exist?

Of course!

2020 may have stranded you on the secluded island of your home. And, it may have even made you forget that there is a world beyond that pretend vacation cruise ship originally purchased to be the family sofa, but yes, life still exists.

And, it’s like… being all trendy and stuff still. Crazy, right?

While you were Door Dashing your figure away, 2020 was not only quarantining you, it was setting aside those old trends of 2019 to make way for the ones that will shock you once you emerge from your cave of forced exclusivity.

If you are anxious to catch-up on everything you’ve missed, keep reading to learn the lifestyle trends 2020 has “unmasked”.

1. Virtual Gyms

How long did you expect to get away with wearing sweatpants all day without actually breaking a sweat?

Since the coronavirus lockdowns, many fitness freaks have gotten their fix by joining virtual gym classes. These virtual classes can come in many forms. From prerecorded videos to one-on-one live-stream sessions with a personal trainer of your choosing, there are tons of options for you.

If you are missing the burn and excitement of being around other gym-crazed health nuts, try searching for an online platform that offers classes to fit your physical needs.

2. Zoom Parties

Sticking to the theme of going virtual, are you dying to see your loved ones?

You probably can’t stop thinking about all of the birthday get-togethers you’ve missed out on since “Miss Corona” decided to be a killjoy. The good news is that there hasn’t been a shortage of creativity since we’ve had to become socially distant.

One way the world is managing to spend time with the people they care about is through the application Zoom. Zoom will allow you to host virtual meetings (or parties) with your friends and family.

The possibilities are endless as far as what you can do while on a Zoom call. Many people are hosting virtual game nights, birthday parties, movie nights, and brainstorm sessions (if working is your idea of fun).

If Zoom isn’t for you, just Google live streaming software or services that will allow you to still socialize and keep up-to-date with those you care about.

3. Hyperbaric Chambers

Sometimes you just need to breathe… which is hard to do when your face is constantly being smothered by a mask.

If you have ventured out of the safe-haven (or prison depending on your perspective) of your home, you may have noticed that you will be given a death stare if you dare enter any public area without a medical mask.

On the condition that you are willing to trade in your current medical mask, for a mask that promises to promote healing and allow you to breathe, looking into the different kinds of hyperbaric chambers may be the answer for you.

Hyperbaric chambers are used to give one-hundred percent pure oxygen to a recipient to promote healing to the body. Hyperbaric chambers also help to fight against infection since oxygen helps to boost your immune system

Plus, let’s not forget the benefit of finally being able to breathe freely without being judged by strangers.

4. Unplugging

Although streaming services are thriving during the current pandemic, many homes are choosing to unplug from the rest of the world.

It’s hard to get away from the constant advertisements begging you to vote, or the constant reminders that corona cases keep fluctuating when you are frequently engaging in social media.

Although unplugging is in no way a new trend, its popularity has grown this year purely because the world is seeking an escape from the ceaseless spout of negativity found online.

Just trust that you won’t be alone if you decide to not charge your phone tonight in favor of doing living-room yoga, or reading one of the dusty books from your bedside table.

5. Therapy

If unplugging from the rest of the world isn’t enough to help you center your mind, why not try therapy?

Never thought that you would ever see the day that therapy became cool? Well, once again, welcome to 2020 and welcome to the future of mental health.

Before 2020, most of the world was used to self-medicating. It was easy to throw yourself into your work, go out every weekend, or indulge in the occasional mukbang to lighten your spirit.

But with many people stuck at home due to job loss and restrictions on where they can go, we are being confronted with this one hard fact—nurturing our mental health during this time is essential.

With the constant threat of the coronavirus flooding the streets of our once safe neighborhoods, the trend to reach out for help has gone mainstream.

So, disregard any feelings of apprehension you may have, and seek out professional help to cope with this rough year. 2021 will thank you later!

6. Prepping

Somewhere in the future, history books will talk about “The Great Toilet Paper Shortage of 2020”.

Were you one of the sad souls that had to resort to desperate measures just to properly clean yourself after your last roll of Charmin ran out?

No need to be embarrassed, but hopefully you’ve wised up.

Across the country, people are learning to prepare themselves for the worse. If ever there is a time when they can’t wipe—or eat, or have shelter and running water, and just well… life begins to suck again, they will at least have enough soup for the next five years.

Videos on prepping for an unexpected apocalypse have gained even more popularity this year.

Citizens around the world are hoarding everything from rice to their favorite coffee beans because who wants to be decaffeinated during the apocalypse, right?

So ladies, grab a few extra tubes of your favorite mascara, and guys, be sure not to run out of that beard oil because the end may be nearer than we think!
