Traits of a narcissist

People with Narcissistic Personality Disorder have a misunderstanding of being superior to others. They think that they are unique and gifted and no one can ever stand confidently in front of them. There are multiple traits that you can see in narcissists and spot them.

1.      They have a sense of being grandiose

They have an unrealistic sense of superiority, which makes them arrogant, self-centred and egoistic. They think they are special and only deserve to live in a special environment where they can be treated specially. They like to be associated or compared with high-status people or celebrities. They think that no one can battle with their smartness and beauty. They exaggerate their achievements and talents a lot just to look superior in front of everyone.

2.      They live in a world of fantasy

Since reality doesn’t support their thinking, Narcissists start living in their own fantasy world, where they think themselves superior and powerful. In their self-glorifying fantasies, they are extremely successful, powerful, attractive and an ideal personality that known everything. Their fantasies set them apart from a real-world of reality and when their fantasy bubble burst, it leads to a mental disturbance and sometimes narcissistic rage.

3.      Appearance is everything to them

It’s not necessary that Narcissists are attractive more than other people, but they take a good care of their physical appearance just to grab some fake attention. It’s important for a narcissistic sociopath to look physically attractive because appearance is everything for them. They always remain well-dressed wearing attractive jewellery and hairstyle, just to grab other’s attention.

4.      They need constant applaud

The sense of superiority in a Narcissist needs to be steamed with praise, admiration and applause. They are not happy with occasional compliments. They want everyone to praise their talent, achievements and looks. They like and surround with people who keep praising them every hour in a day. They want everyone to be their admirer. If anyone criticizes their looks and works, they treat it as a betrayal. This sometimes may lead to narcissistic rage. Narcissists are whimsical and no one can ever stop them from taking revenge from the person who has hurt them.

5.      They shame others without guilt

Narcissists don’t care about the feelings of others. They generally don’t develop feelings for people, in other words, they lack empathy for others. They like to shame and criticize people for their looks, achievements, thinking and choices without feeling guilty. They never regret hurting anyone’s feelings. It simply doesn’t matter for them about how their behaviour affects others.

6.      They are stubborn and demanding

Narcissists think that they are king and others are a slave. They are extremely demanding. No matter what, if they want something, they can do anything to get it. Parents who pamper their children a lot make their children stubborn and demanding. If a Narcissist’s demand won’t be fulfilled, they will get extremely angry.
