These spasms are not really a medical condition but can be a symptom or indication of a stomach disease. Colon spasms are so frequent in IBS that the intestinal condition is also recognized even as spastic colon.

  • Parasite infections
  • Bowel or intestinal obstruction

Lifestyle changes

You’d need to make some lifestyle changes to get rid of colon spasm. You need to reduce stress and keep your mental health in control. On the other hand, it’s essential for you to make some changes in your eating habits. Avoid eating unhealthy food and take a healthy diet. Include fruits and green veggies in your diet. Also add foods that contain fibre like grains, beans, and legumes. Drink a lot of water to detoxify your stomach. If you consume alcohol and tobacco then avoid it to stop future spasms.

Exercise regularly

To normalize any kind of digestive problem, you should keep your body in movement. You should exercise, walk, run, yoga and gym regularly. Make sure you exercise regularly in the morning. If you go to the gym, then plan your routine for a workout in the morning. With regular workout, you’ll get rid of stomach twitching.

Colon Spasms are normal, but if you are experiencing severe stomach or abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, inability to pass stool, severe stomach contractions, etc, then get the medical help as early as possible.
