Skin Enhancement Using Face and Neck Lifting

As you get older, your skin loses its natural elasticity. Wrinkles form on your face, and the skin around your neck sags. You can improve your facial appearance at New York face & neck lift, where Dr. Norman Joseph Pastorek, a certified facial plastic surgeon, will perform the procedure.

What are a face and neck lift?

A facelift is a cosmetic procedure that involves the lifting and tightening of sagging skin. It is also known as rhytidectomy. Platysmaplasty or a neck lift is a surgical procedure for tightening and removing skin from the neck. To enhance this process, your doctor combines the use of:

·         Resurfacing which gives you a better tone and improved facial texture

·         Injection of fillers and fats which reduce wrinkles

·         Facial implants that improve your contour

Before this procedure, you will arrange for prior consultation with your surgeon, Dr. Norman Joseph Pastorek. Your doctor will assess if you qualify for a face or neck lift and will also:

·         Evaluate your medical history

·         Examine for current medical conditions

·         Discuss the treatment options

·         Discuss possible side effects

Before Procedure

There are several guidelines that you need to adhere to weeks before the surgery. They include:

·         Avoid smoking for at least six weeks before the procedure. Smoking will increase the risk of surgical complications and cause unpleasing results.

·         Keep your body hydrated by drinking a lot of water.

·         Do not take anti-inflammatory drugs if your doctor says so.

·         Avoid performing house chores. Get enough rest but be sure to walk around to enhance blood circulation.

·         Make sure your home is comfortable for the healing process.

·         Get someone to drive you home and stay close after the surgery.

·         Do not eat the night before the surgery.

Face and neck lift procedure

For the face, your surgeon will use anesthesia to prevent pain during the surgery and make an incision around the earlobes to the lower part of your scalp. Your surgeon will redistribute fat from your face. Muscles and deep layers of the face are tightened. Sagging skin is pulled over the contours, and the remaining skin is cut. Your surgeon will make another incision below your chin to remove excess fat and loose skin from your neck. Your surgeon will close the incisions and use skin adhesives or sutures that may dissolve away or can be removed.

Possible risks and side effects

·         Loss of hair at the incision area

·         Swelling

·         Blood clotting

·         Severe pain

·         Scarring

·         Wound infection

·         Cardiac events

Care after surgery

After the surgery, you may experience some pain and swelling, which is normal.  Dr. Norman Joseph Pastorek will give you instructions that will facilitate fast recovery. They include:

·         Take painkillers as prescribed.

·         Walk around to make sure there’s blood flow to keep tissues healthy.

·         Raise your head while lying down to reduce and prevent further swelling.

·         Keep the bandages in place for some days after surgery.

For longer maintenance:

·         Ensure your face is well moisturized

·         Use sunscreen and wear wide hats to protect your skin from the sun

·         Eat balanced diet meals
